And when they first came up with the HD sports pack it was either 99 cents or $1.99. And how much is it now!? Once you decide that "it's only $1" it won't be $1 for long.

I got my new bill today

I got a new bill today, paying an extra 4 dollars a month. It seems to me like we just keep getting less and less quality for more and more money. So I called SD and cancelled my satellite. Been with them for 7 years, but I just think it's time to look for a different solution.

Some people may have seen a larger increase on their bill if they have the Digital Favourites package. It's going up $2 on April 1st and LPIF begins April 1st also.

The latest price increase finally had me ready to switch TV providers to cut my monthly bill, but I called Shaw Direct to have one last try to see if they could find me a better package. I make the price increase +5.5% in the last month, +4% last September, plus some extra HST last July - that's a significantly higher bill in the last year. Certainly the HST part isn't SD's fault, but it doesn't matter - there's only so much money to go around, and the government isn't giving me any more.

Fortunately SD did come up with a better package, cutting my bill back to the 2006 price level where it was when I first switched to Hi Def. That's good for the moment, but the trend is not a positive one. I'm not getting anything more than I did in 2006, and SD is now getting less money from me per month than before they began this latest round of excessive price increases, which can't be good for them. I do appreciate the better deal I'm getting now, but it's just irritating when they keep changing the deal and needing constant attention to keep the price under control.

Value Check !

Hey all - new to Digital Home...

Just wondering if I could ask your opinion on whether I'm getting good value for my SD account. This months bill:

Extra Value Pack 19.99
Digital Value Pack 22.99
Eastern Nets 4.99
Multi-Receiver Warranty 5.99
HD Sports Bundle 6.99
Digital Extra Value Plus 16.00

Discount -16.00
hst 7.42 crtc 0.91
TOTAL is $69.28

Honestly - I don't even know what each of those packs is giving me... I had digital favourites and the hd sports pack for the longest time and a rep told me this would save money...

Opinions would be much appreciated...

The Extra/Digital Value Packs are giving you more or less what Digital Favourites gave you.

If you have HD, get rid of the eastern nets. You already get the HD version for free.

For that same 4.99 and taxes you could now change the HD Sports to HD Combo (10.99) and have HDNet, DiscoveryHD, etc if you want more HD.

This is the second increase to this package in less than a year. Last September it increased from $54.99 to $56.99.

My mom got stuck with this increase. What's worse is the notice was buried underneath the LPIF notice. The notice also didn't bother to state how much the package would be with the increase, which is usually stated on the front page in the notice.

TSN HD

Does Shaw Direct require you to pay for TSN SD in order to get TSN HD?

If so, do you have to pay twice (once for TSN SD and again for TSN HD)?

Thanks
