Well agreed in that the prospect of Bambi packing a crossbow may deter the less initiated thus choosing to purchase their protien at the meat counter instead of harvesting it themselves.

Same reason that they tried to keep FOX News off of their service, when it first launched. A bunch of Quasi socialist types complained to the point that Shaw Direct would not activate it, in the news bundle, unless you asked for it. Shaw Direct goes ahead and puts CNN up in HD, eventhough they trailed FOX News badly, in the rating war Stateside. FOX New should have gotten that HD slot over CNN last year, when it was launched.

I have to admit that I enjoy watching Fox News. Their morning show features good looking Babes and the same news as the others. True they have a Repug slant. But hey that is only fair. O'Reilly is entertaining, especially if you record and spin through the stupid parts.

John Stossel and Geraldo Rivera do good stuff.

IMHO, any news network in HD is a waste of bandwidth. Well, maybe not The Naked News, but that's different. Shaw direct is missing too many HD channels to waste it in the lowest rated US news network (CNN.)

Yes, I would like every channel to be in HD. In the (near) future they will all be HD, I hope.

UFC Marketing Spam

I got some more UFC Marketing Spam this morning, which has always annoyed me as a Shaw Direct customer.

Now that I'm not a customer it annoys me even more.

I cancelled my service 3 months ago. I have made multiple online unsubscribe requests, and had multiple Email correspondence sessions with customer support through "Ask Jim".

SD customer service is so @#$% up that they can't even delete a former customer from their Email list.

I left Shaw Direct 16 months ago and I still continue to get the emails as well. Just wanted to dash any hopes you had of it going away on its own

No expectation on my part that it will go away on its own.

I made four online unsubscribe requests, all reported as successful based on the response I received from the web page, before I started contacting Shaw Direct customer support.

I am now on my third go round of customer support e-mail, and I'm expanding the collection of Shaw addresses where I express my annoyance as we grind along.

if you are having no luck in stopping the emails from coming, maybe you should set up filters that directs messages like that to your trash folder?

Too expensive to upgrade

I left Shaw last week just waiting for my month to run out before I pull everything out and toss it in the waste bin, for the last couple of years I couldn't even watch my local news because its in mpeg4, can't sub to anything new because it will be in mpeg4 and even if I payed to do the upgrade then latter they will probably hook me for a lnb. So i crunched the numbers and Shaw just wasn't a good deal. And I was even on the Atlantic value package for the last couple of years with extras packages install to bump my bill to around $100 a month, before that it ran a little over $100 so after 7 years with them at approx $1200 a year goodbye Shaw. I was running 1 505 and 2 209's and a 207. did have 2 505's at one time but the bugger died on me so i tossed it and the UHF remote never worked on the second one. There lack of HD also helped sway my decision too
