Bell TV 2009 New Channels discussion

New Channels always generate a lot of discussion so this thread is for discussing new channels in 2009.

You're welcome to speculate and discuss new channels coming to Bell TV in 2009 but PLEASE unless it's been confirmed by an official press release, be clear about what is speculation and what is fact.

A post saying "a CSR said it was coming" is NOT official, however, it does put it in the "highly" likely category.

If its posted on the CRTC site that its been approved by the CRTC but Bell TV has not said anything, I would consider that in the "not very likely at this time" category.

how often?

I've only been using BEV for about a month now and it's been great so far. My question is for those who have been subscribing for years; how often are new channels added to the lineup? If channels are added, do you need to pay extra if the channel is added to a theme you're already subscribing to?

Is FX an existing channel on BEV? If not will it be added soon?

The only way to get around this (for now) is for some Canadian media company to buy more shows from F/X (some already air on Canadian channels). If this happens, I'll wager that F/X Canada is a possibility a few years from now (they'll come in the same way HBO Canada came in).

I think the channel has been approved by the CRTC, so Rogers would need to sign the carriage deals with other providers and the channel would be off the ground then. Move 5-10 Jays games exclusively to the channel to try and provide incentive for people to watch the channel (similar to how LeafsTV has 5 or so Leafs games).

It would be near the top of my list of channels that we will likely see this year.

Hey guys,

First time poster but long time lurker, great source of info for BEV clients.

My Q is surrounding NBA League Pass, has anyone heard of any speculation of this being added as a ppv option to BEV? The only provider carrying it right now is Rogers but I would sure like to see it come to BEV.

Also, too bad no speculation surrounding NFL Network HD, love watching the pre game show, top 10, NFL Replay etc but I guess it makes sense that if most live games are available via a CTV/TSN feed that makes sense too.

Any info would be sweet, thanks again.

Shaw has Golf Channel HD since december, I don't understand why Bell hasn't add it yet.

I'd venture a guess that it's only January, maybe they haven't agreed on a contract yet?

Likly due to cost vs demand for the channel. Either that or they want too much money per sub or something along those lines. Some providers are willing to pay more for something than others.

I would think SpeedHD would be a good addition. Little Eastlink has it, you'd think Bell would. It's not the station it once was but it would make more sense than TLC-HD. Or other filler HD channels for that matter.

All Movie Network channels should be in HD as well as all sports related stations... Golf (hate it but still), Fight Network etc... I think most people go HD for movies and sports as the primary reason.

As for a new station, as a news junkie, I don't understand why MSNBC is not in the lineup.
