Rogers recently renewed their carriage agreement with Spike and BET not long ago.

Not necessarily.

Bell TV dropped CBS Sports Network but Fibe/Fibreop still has it.

Question

Well if Bell Fibe ends up keeping BET & Spike, then its not a contract issue but more of Bandwidth issue as BTV is making more room for possible more HD channels?

OH, it's a contract issue for sure. Fibe does not have limited bandwidth, as it's virtually unlimited as far as the number of channels it can carry, just the link to the home is limited.

I thought I read something about a Viacom dispute happening with Dish as well, but they did manage to agree to some sort of extension. Could be wrong on that, but I'm just going off memory right now. Maybe Bell wasn't able to come to a resolution. Granted, both BET and Spike were not available in HD on Bell satellite, and as we all know, Spike Canada doesn't show most of the content that Spike USA airs (licensing rights issue?) but again, it's just yet another disappointment, with Bell removing specialty channels and not really doing much else to compensate for it.

I wonder what will happen at the end of the year when it becomes mandatory for all channels to be available for purchase individually, if we'll see more specialties getting dropped.

As of May 12, 2016, ABC Spark will no longer be available in the Digital Standard package but will be available in Family 2.

Unsure if this is the right spot (mods please move this if there is a better location) but I noticed that the online TV guide for Bell Satellite has a check box for 4K channels in its search. Is this just another Bell oddity or does anyone know if Bell Satellite actually has plans in the works for 4K channel distribution?

Thanks!

They tend to confuse a lot of stuff between fibe and satellite... for example, FNTSY Sports Network shows as being available in bell Satellite but they don't carry it, only on fibe.

I'm reasonably sure Bell sat will never carry any 4K channels ever as they'd have to introduce new receivers for which they are very reluctant to do.

Not to mention they don't even have enough bandwidth for compressed 1080i/720p.

Bell Satellite will never have 4K. They have been dropping channels to make room for new channels. I can see Bell eventually getting out of the Satellite business and just concentrating their efforts on Bell Fibe.

I noticed this my IPG last night. Is this a first? i.e. One channel devoted to a single program?
