Changing Christmas Music To the log crackling sound.

In previous years you went into the menu and selected system setup then select alternate audio and then select alternate audio and then save it. This was on a 3100 or 4100 receiver. This year this does not seem to be working. I tried this and the Fireplace Channel is still playing Christmas Carols.

Hard to get a crackling sound when it is a gas fire and not real wood burning

Crackling Sound can be heard on a 6131 too;

MENU, 8, 3, drop down menu and select Alternate.

More Than One Fireplace

@kingclancy: There are several different fireplaces featured this year. One is definitely wood burning. You can see the sparks and the glowing embers and occasionally one of the burning logs drops an inch or two in the log holder just as a real log would. It is that particular fireplace video that included the crackling sound last year. I don't know about this year as I haven't tried the alternate sound setting yet. (9242)

Yes, the real fireplaces (there are at least two) have the real sounds as alternate. I'm still hoping to catch when someone puts another log on.

I turned this on last night with the alternate audio and my wife thought I had lost my mind.

Yes, we have a fireplace in the TV room but it's gas and I like the wood crackling sound!!!

Tv has no flue losses :-)

Just a note that this was removed last week(ish). It was good while it lasted. I actually recorded a 4 hour chunk (with crackling sound) to use whenever we feel the need. It is great in the bedroom to fall asleep to ;-)
