Again based on my contacts....

Spike HD is still in the plans but no date...
+
Family HD and YTV HD around January 12th

Thats it for now...
Your source appears to be correct, Hsantos, since I see Family HD (channel 1642) and YTV HD (channel 1646) in my guide this AM. So far, the programming appears to be upconverted SD, but at least the channels are available.

Hopefully, you will have more "good news" in the days ahead.

Still waiting on Spike HD, Movietime HD, and History HD.

I would hardly call these two (Family HD and YTV HD) true HD channels.

More like Bell trying to pad their HD channel count with SD channel quality.

How long do you think before we are paying for a "Family HD Value Pack"?

I'll have to check these out tonight. Family is a popular channel in our house. Even an HD channel showing SD material has to be better then their SD channel. Although I've noticed a lot of promotions on Family in widescreen so they can be HD, and some of the movies they air are HD in the US, so they can have content. Some of their shows are widescreen only, so they must have them in HD.

Any idea how long they are in free preview? Or is this one of those "if you have them in SD, you get them in HD" type of deals?

i don't have them in sd and they don't show as a "free preview" ... so i suppose it's not a free preview at all but an "hd included" situation as you mention. not that bell advertises that every sd channel is automatically provided in hd if it's available. oh no wait, they do. my bad ..

There's nothing in the Info that says the new HD channels for YTV and Family are previews.

I believe you need to subscribe to the channels to receive them. This is a great addition if you have kids.

I don't think many of the shows duirng the day will be HD as a lot of them are older episodes. Last night on Family HD, every show they aired, but one, from 6:30 ct - 10 was in HD.

I can't imagine who was looking to have these channels added to Bell's line-up. Are pre-Teens now driving the corporate decisions at Bell?

Hey Bell how about listening to what your customers want, redonkulous!

There are quite a few of us with children that watch these channels. Great to see them available in HD now. Family seems to be one of the most watched channels in my house. I bet the target audience for Family HD is bigger then Speed HD. And why not add new Canadian HD channels instead of American ones. There was never anything on HDNet to start with.

Maybe non-violent, family programming IS what the majority of customers want. Not everyone likes the "roman coliseum" style of shows that seem to be everywhere these days.

let's all collectively pray that someone comes up with a billards, poker, darts & bowling channel so that all of that crappy fill up programming can finally be removed from sports channels.

oh tv gods will you not listen ...
