Crave TV is Now Available to all Canadians with Internet

Crave TV, Bell Media’s pay television video on demand service is now available to all Canadians with Internet service.

It’s a low-cost deal coming in at $7.99 a month to subscribe, with a one month free trial currently available for new users. TV customers that already have service with Bell, Eastlink, Sasktel and Telus can go even further and bundle in CraveTV access for a lower rate.

What does a subscription bring? The service has a library of 10,000 hours of programming and exclusive Canadian rights to HBO and Showtime‘s library of past programs.

According to an article on FinancialPost.com, a Crave TV offers older off-air HBO TV series like “Sex and the City” and “The Sopranos” and Showtime shows such as “The Affair,” “Penny Dreadful” and the new drama “Billions.”

As part of the new wave of Internet television Crave TV is competing directly with other subscription-based over-the-top streaming services, such as Netflix, and the Rogers/Shaw joint service, Shomi.

Both Netflix and Shomi charge $8.99 for their most popular streaming tiers.

According to Bell, its apps will soon be updated to support the new service, for those using iOS, Android, Apple TV, Windows and select Samsung Smart TVs and Blu-ray players.
