Microsoft Introduces Their First Laptop Ever-The Surface Book

Today, Microsoft announced the coming release of their first laptop, The Surface Book, which will go on sale October 26th.

The Surface Book, which is a silver metal laptop with a distinct hinge, includes a 13.5-inch display, with a pixel density of 267PPI.surface-book-front-back-100620178-orig

The screen of the laptop is fully removal, allowing it to be used as a tablet.

You can also choose to flip the screen all the way around and use it like a convertible, with the keyboard propping it up, for a third option.

Like a Mac, The Surface Book includes a back-lit keyboard for working in the dark, which, Microsoft claims, is so quiet that it allows for almost silent typing.

The laptop includes a glass trackpad with five points of touch sensitivity.14498-10091-en-INTL-L-Atlas-Devices-CR9-00001-RM5-mnco-l

On the inside, the Surface Book has the latest Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, from the Skylake family and a Nvidia GeForce GPU with GDDR5 memory. This is located in the base, so you’ll need to keep the display docked to tap into its power.

The dock also includes two USB 3.0 ports and an SD card slot.

The Surface Book is said to keep running for 12 hours on a single charge, and to be twice as fast as the MacBook Pro.

Prices begin at $1,499, and pre-orders will commence on October 7th, 2015.
