The Ecobee3 is Toronto-based company Ecobee’s flagship product and is one of the first Apple Homekit-compatible devices to be sold in Apple stores.

The Ecobee is a WiFi-enabled smart thermostat that its makers say detects when you’re inside your home, adjusting the temperature accordingly and in turn, saving you money. Homeowners can also control the thermostat via an app on their phone, to say, turn on the heat or air conditioning 15 minutes before they arrive home, so they return to a comfortable climate.

The HomeKit-enabled Ecobee has a few extra features as well – for example, the smart thermostat can be controlled using Siri. Additionally, Apple has made it possible for multiple HomeKit-enabled devices to be grouped together and controlled at the same time. This will allow homeowners to set different temperatures in different rooms at different times of day.

The Ecobee3 is priced at $249. If you want to add some extra oomph to its capabilities, you can install additional temperature sensors in your home, available in packs of two for $79.
