BlackBerry Fans Convince Rogers to Carry New Z30 Smartphone

BlackBerry fans posted, tweeted, emailed and ultimately convinced Rogers Communications that it should not abandon a fellow Canadian company in struggling times.

Rogers had no choice but to reverse its stance and stock the new BlackBerry Z30, which it will make available through its website later in October.

Starting on October 15, TELUS and Bell Mobility along with major retailers such as Future Shop and Best Buy will all feature the latest BlackBerry touchscreen smartphone, which comes with a 5-inch 720p (295 ppi) AMOLED display, a 1.7 gigahertz processor with quad-core graphics and a 2880 mAh battery capable of lasting 25 hours on a full charge. Pricing has not been released.

Fairfax Financial has agreed to buy the company for $4.7 billion although reports suggest that tech heavyweights SAP, Cisco Systems, Intel, Google and Samsung Electronics are interested in pursuing individual assets were BlackBerry to be split up.
