Who Has The Happiest Wireless Customers In Canada?

A recent study from research firm J.D. Powers and Associates indicates that wireless customers of SaskTel and Koodo are among the happiest in Canada.

The J.D. Powers report on the 2013 Canadian Wireless Total Ownership Experience maintains that even though customers are shelling out more money for mobile services, overall satisfaction is higher by 6 index points to 691, on a 1,000-point scale. Canadians have an average wireless bill of $77 a month, up from $68 in 2012.

For the second straight year, SaskTel is ranked highest among full-service wireless carriers, with a score of 712 based on a 1,000-point scale. Telus Mobility scored 699 points for second place, followed by Bell Mobility with 674, and Rogers took fourth place with a score of 662.

The study shows that SaskTel, which climbed 13 points from 2012, scores higher than other providers with its offers/promotions, customer service and sales process factors.

Looking at stand-alone carriers, Koodo took top spot with 765 points, while Virgin Mobile scored 744 for second, followed by WIND Mobile, Public Mobile, Mobilicity, PC Mobile, Solo Mobile and Fido, achieving a point total of 704.

It’s comes as no surprise that smartphone use is up in Canada – jumping to 63 percent from 54 percent in 2012. Apple leads the market, claiming 31 percent of smartphone owners, followed by Samsung and BlackBerry, each with 22 percent market share. What is somewhat surprising is that BlackBerry’s share excludes the recently launched BlackBerry 10.
