RIM Launches BlackBerry 10… Finally

Speeches have been made, apps have been launched, partnerships have been forged and two new BlackBerry 10 smartphones have hit the market–well, almost.

Research In Motion, now officially named BlackBerry, as revealed by CEO Thorsten Heins at the BlackBerry 10 launch event, is ready to unleash the touchscreen Z10 on February 5th in Canada and the Q10, with full QWERTY keyboard, in April.

Both phones were shown at simultaneous presentation events worldwide including New York, Toronto, London, Paris, Johannesburg, Jakarta and Dubai.

The latest BlackBerry 10 smartphones will be equipped with new features including fast browsers, smart cameras and a large selection of apps.

The LTE-enabled Z10 boasts a 4.2-inch 1,280 x 768 display and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Plus with 2GB RAM.
Besides the familiar keyboard, the Q10 will feature a 3.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen and a sturdy, light glass-weave casing.

When it hits stores in a few days, expect to pay $149.99 on select three year plans from Canadian BlackBerry 10 partners, which include Rogers, Bell, TELUS and Sasktel.

Interestingly, the Z10 will be available first in the UK starting January 31st, before reaching Canada early next week, followed by the United Arab Emirates on February 10th. Shipments will arrive in the US in March.
