Videotron experiences strong subscriber growth in recent quarter

Videotron, Quebec’s largest cable company, announced today that it has registered, in the last quarter, its strongest subscriber growth since its acquisition by Quebecor in the early 2000s with a net increase of 169,000 new service subscriptions, counting all products.

The company, which is a division of Quebecor, had revenues of $611.6 million during the quarter, up 10% from the same quarter a year earlier. Operating income was $275.4 million, up 4.1%.

Videotron says its HSPA+ mobile wireless network added 47,500 new subscribers in the quarter and has now added 173,000 new customers since it was launched in September 2010, bringing the total number of subscriber connections to 258,100.

At September 30, Videotron had 1,844,200 cable television customers, a net increase of 43,500 customers during the quarter. High Speed Internet customers stood at 1,306,400, up 39,900 in the July to August timeframe. The number of cable telephone subscribers rose 37,800 to 1,179,400.
