Starbuck lets you pay with your iPhone

Starbucks Canada has launched a free iOS application which lets Canadian customers pay for their purchases right from their iPhone.

The app builds upon the mobile payment rolled out in the U.S earlier this year and the new Starbucks Rewards loyalty card program launched last month in this country.

In addition to allowing you to pay for your purchase, the app also lets users: check their Starbucks Card balance and top up their account; find the nearest Starbucks store; access food and beverage nutrition information; and learn more about the company’s coffee.

The app can also be protected with a passcode so you don’t end up paying for someone else’s coffee.

The new iPhone app requires iOS 4.0 or later and is available now from the iTunes Canada app store.

The Starbucks Rewards loyalty card program has been around a lot longer than one month in Canada. I’ve been getting rewards since day one and I’ve had my card since Jan 2010.

Nope. This is directly from the Starbucks press release yesterday,.

“With the Starbucks Card Mobile App, customers will be able to manage their My Starbucks Rewards status. My Starbucks Rewards is a new customer loyalty card program launched October 4th in all Canadian Starbucks stores. Replacing the Starbucks Card Rewards program, My Starbucks Rewards brings enhancements to loyalty rewards customers already know and love. The new program delivers added value and provides customized rewards that increase with frequency of use.”

So they changed the program name and added stuff, its still not NEW.

Try not to basically call someone a liar unless you have all the facts. I’ve had a card since 2010, I’ve been getting rewards since 2010. NOT a new program.
