Kobo unveils VOX android tablet and eReader

Toronto based Kobo Inc today announced the Kobo Vox Colour, a $200 Android tablet with WiFi connectivity and a seven inch LCD multi-touch colour screen with 1024 x 800 pixel resolution.

Kobo says the was built for readers but also comes pre-loaded with an email, web browser, and media player application. For magazine and book reading, the device also comes with the Zinio android application pre-installed.

The Vox includes 8GB of internal memory, expandable to 32GB and has estimated battery life of up to 7 hours on a single charge.

“The Kobo Vox Colour provides another leap for Kobo in its sheer level of functionality, ease of use, comfort and style for readers.” said Kobo Chair Heather Reisman.

The device comes in a selection of four contemporary colours-Hot Pink, Lime Green, Ice Blue and Jet Black. Library views are customizable and readers can choose from 7 fonts and 42 font sizes.

The Vox goes on sale Friday October 28th and can be pre-ordered from the Kobobooks website starting today.
