24/7 Flyers/Rangers: Road To The NHL Winter Classic on HBO

HBO Canada announced today that it will be airing “24/7 Flyers/Rangers: Road to the NHL Winter Classic” at the same day and time as HBO in the United States.

The four part reality series takes HBO subscribers rink-side beginning Wednesday, December 14 at 10 p.m. ET/MT, building up to the two teams matchup at the fifth edition of the Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic.

Last year’s documentary series “24/7 Penguins/Capitals: Road to the Winter Classic”, the network’s first foray into the modern-day NHL world, was a hit for HBO and captured two Sports Emmy Awards for the channel.

Rick Bernstein, an Executive Producer at HBO said the success of last years show was primarily due the unfettered access HBO received from both organizations.

In this year’s edition of the series, the first two episodes will introduce you to the two teams and the characters. The third episode will connect what is happening on the ice from the Flyers-Rangers at Madison Square Garden on December 23rd to what’s going in Philadelphia, where the NHL is busy Citizens Bank Park into a hockey rink.

The fourth episode, which airs on January 4th, will focus on the main event, the 2012 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic, which is scheduled for January 2nd at 1 p.m. ET.
