Lady Gaga in concert on HBO this weekend

Lady Gaga’s fans who couldn’t see the pop sensation live will get a chance to see her on HBO this weekend in Lady Gaga Presents The Monster Ball Tour: At Madison Square Garden.

The two-hour show, taped February 21 and 22 in her hometown of New York City, features Lady Gaga playing some of her most well-known songs accompanied by a ten-piece band and ten backup dancers.

The twenty five year old Lady Gaga, who was born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, came to prominence following the release of her debut studio album The Fame in 2008. The album was a commercial success and achieved international popularity with the singles “Just Dance” and “Poker Face.” The album reached number one on the record charts of six countries.

She followed that up in 2009 with The Fame Monster which produced a further two global chart-topping singles “Bad Romance” and “Telephone” and allowed her to embark on a second global headlining concert tour, The Monster Ball Tour, just months after having finished her first, The Fame Ball Tour.

Billboard named her both the Artist of the Year in 2010 and the top selling artist of 2010.

Her second studio album, Born This Way, is scheduled for release on May 23, 2011 after the arrival of its eponymous lead single “Born This Way”, which achieved the number-one spot in countries worldwide and was the fastest-selling single in iTunes history, selling one million copies in five days.

Songs performed during the two hour show include Dance in the Dark, Glitter and Grease, Just Dance, Beautiful, Dirty, Rich, The Fame, LoveGame, Boys Boys Boys, Money Honey, Telephone, Speechless, You and I, So Happy I Could Die, Monster, Teeth, Alejandro, Poker Face, Paparazzi, Bad Romance and Born This Way, in addition to two new songs from her forthcoming album.

Lady Gaga Presents The Monster Ball Tour: At Madison Square Garden will premiere Saturday, May 7 at 9 p.m. ET/MT on HBO Canada.
