Sirius XM and NFL announce 5 year broadcast extension

Sirius XM Radio said today that its subscriber base recently passed the 20 million mark and that it has extended its broadcast and marketing agreement with the NFL for another five years.

The new deal means Sirius subscribers and XM subscribers who subscribe to the Best of Sirius programming package will be able to hear every NFL pre-season, regular season and playoff game right through to the 2016 Super Bowl.

In addition to being able to tune into all the games via satellite, the deal will also provide Sirius XM subscribers with the ability to listen to the games online starting in the 2011 season.

“We are pleased to continue our partnership with SIRIUS XM,” said Steve Bornstein, the NFL’s executive vice president of media. “They have been an excellent partner and have become part of NFL fans’ daily lives, not only on game day, but also throughout the year.”

The deal also means Sirius XM will continue to air NFL Radio, a 24/7 channel dedicated to the NFL, for the next five years.
