New Zinio digital reader uses Adobe AIR technology

Zinio, a California based digital book and magazine distributor, this week announced the latest beta version of its cross platform digital reader software.

In addition to providing subscribers with the ability to read digital editions of their favourite periodicals, the Zinio Reader 4 beta uses Adobe Air technology in order to provide additional interactive and multimedia features.

Features include the ability to: view embedded interactive videos within the reader, bookmark pages, clip and save articles to favourites, search and sort collections in Library view and enhanced reading capabilities both online and offline.

To encourage readers to try out the new reader, Zinio is offering a free download of National Geographic’s April 2010 interactive “Water” issue.

The interactive edition of the National Geographic magazine presents complete content from the print edition, plus extra photo galleries, rollover graphics that animate features such as maps and timelines, video profiles of photographers who contributed to the issue and other interactive features.
