CTV to broadcast closing ceremony of Paralympic Games

CTV has announced that it will now broadcast live coverage of the Closing Ceremony from the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games this Sunday.

Taking place in Whistler, BC, the Closing Ceremony will air across Canada on Sunday, March 21 at 7 p.m. PT / 10 p.m. ET in English on CTV and in French on RDS.

The closing ceremony was not on the original slate of Paralympian broadcasts announced by Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium earlier this month but was added after Canadians complained they wanted to see more.

“The excitement of world class Paralympic sport has ignited again national pride and an appetite for inspirational athletic performance.” said John Furlong, VANOC CEO.

Brian Williams will anchor for CTV alongside three-time Paralympic Games gold medallist Marni Abbott-Peter. On RDS, Claude Mailhot and Claudine Douville will host.

The closing ceremony broadcast will be in addition to the remaining scheduled Paralympian previously announced.

This is daytime programming. If this is the entire broadcast schedule and it feels like it, it would explain why a regular worker in the west can’t find the paralympics on the TV of an evening.
