Imation ships world’s first wireless external hard drive

imation_wireless_driveImation today announced the U.S. availability of what the company claims is the world’s first Wireless USB external hard drive, which allows consumers to wirelessly transfer files from their computer to the drive.

The company says the Pro WX Wireless USB hard drive has a wireless range of up to 30 feet and a data transfer rate of up to 15MBs/second.

The Wireless drive provides 1.5TB of storage capacity and comes with an integrated stand for vertical or horizontal orientation; low capacity/data activity indicator lights; a built-in sleep mode for energy conservation; and one-touch, backup sync buttons for easy-to-use automatic backup of data, photos, music and videos.
The Imation Pro WX wireless USB hard drive is now available in the United States for $450 and works with both PC and Mac operating systems. No word yet on Canadian pricing or availability.
