Cogeco Cable expands its home phone offerings

cogecoCogeco Cable announced today the company had expanded its digital phone (VoIP) offerings.

The company, which now has over 280,000 phone customers, is now offering three packages to its cable customers: Basic Line, Select and Freedom Package.

At $19.99 per month, Basic line offers unlimited local calling, 911 emergency service and long distance calls with Canada and the U.S. for seven cents a minute.

The Select packages is $29.99 per month and features unlimited local calling, 911 emergency service, two calling features, and 100 minutes of long distance calls with Canada and the U.S. (seven cents a minutes after that).

Calling features to chose from include: voice mail, call display, call waiting, visual call waiting, call forwarding, three-way calling, call blocking, anonymous call reject, call screen, call display permanently blocked, do not disturb, and unlisted name and number.

The Freedom package is $44.99 per month and features unlimited local calling, 911 emergency service, Unlimitedlong distance calls within Canada and the U.S. and the following five calling features: Voice Mail, Call Display, Call Waiting, Visual Call Waiting, and Call Forwarding.

    They called again the other night soliciting their telephone service (nearly a dozen times over the last year or two.) One of the funniest calls.. girl tells me about the service and I stop her half way through, “I have vonage. $23/month (with taxes)… 500 minutes long distance, caller id, call waiting, three way calling, voice mail, 911 and a bunch of other features.”

    Her reply, “That can’t be true.”

    Yes, it is true.. it’s just that you’re charging too much for your service.
