Videotron expands 50 Mbps Internet service offering

hsiVideotron, Quebec’s largest cable and internet service provider, today announced it is extending its Ultimate Speed Internet services to Quebec City residents as well as more areas surrounding Montreal, including Outremont, the Town of Mount Royal and Hamsptead.

The company will be offering customers two Ultimate Speed Internet (USI) offerings, USI 30 and USI 50.

USI 30 offers a bandwidth cap of 70GB with upload and download speeds of up to 1 Mbps and 30 Mbps respectively. USI 30 costs $74.95 per month or $64.95 on a twelve month contract.

USI 50 offers a bandwidth cap of 100GB with upload and download speeds of up to 1 Mbps and 50 Mbps respectively. USI 50 costs $89.95 per month or $79.95 on a twelve month contract.

It’s estimated that over 1 million families and businesses in more than 100 municipalities will now have access to the USI service up from 112,000 homes when the service was first announced in February 2008.
