Bell TV removes Sun News from its line-up
Bell TV, Canada’s largest Direct-to-Home satellite Television provider, has removed the Quebecor owned Sun TV News channel from its line-up in a dispute over fees.
Bell owned CTV is reporting that Quebecor sent a letter to Bell this past April 18th demanding the removal of the station from Bell’s line-up by May 3rd if an agreement could not be reached.
CRTC denies Sun TV News application
The CRTC has rejected Quebecor’s application for a Category 1 licence for Sun TV News, a 24-hour English news channel.
Last month the company had announced plans to launch Sun TV News on January 1, 2011 provided it was given a category 1 licence, a type of licence the CRTC had said it would not given out until late 2011.
