Microsoft rumoured to announce Slate plans next week
IN front of an audience at the London School of Economics this week, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said the company would be showing off new Windows tablet computers by Christmas.
Calling the potential iPad competitor “slates,” Balmer did not specify when they would be announced, however, Neowin is reporting that Microsoft will unveil its Slates plan at a press conference on October 11th.
Global Notebook PC revenues up sharply
Revenues for the global notebook PC market grew to $31.3 billion U.S. in the first quarter, up 31% from $26.4 million in the first quarter of 2009 according to a recent report from DisplaySearch.
In terms of revenue, it was the biggest quarter for notebook sales since the third quarter of 2008
