Chrome Web browser usage climbs for 20th straight month

The Google Chrome web browser gained market share for the twentieth month in a row according to recent figures published by NetMarketshare.

Total worldwide usage in June 2010 for Chrome was 7.24%, up 0.2% of global from May and more than triple the 2.4% recorded in the same month of 2009.

Safari 5 web browser released

This week’s big announcement from Apple was of course the impending arrival of iPhone 4, however, it was not the company’s only announcement.

Apple also released the latest version of its Safari web browser for the Mac OS X and Windows operating systems.

Use of Internet Explorer continues to fall

Microsoft’s Internet Explorer (IE) remained the most popular web browser in the world in April according to recent figures published by NetMarketshare.

Total worldwide usage for Internet Explorer in April 2010 was 59.95%, which on the surface seems impressive until you realize that IE’s share two years ago was 75% and almost 95% at its peak.

The Google Chrome web browser gained 0.4% of global market share in February from the previous month according to figures published today by NetMarketshare.

The Google Chrome web browser gained 0.6% of global market share in January from the previous month according to figures published today by NetMarketshare.

Total worldwide usage for Chrome was 5.2% in January, more than triple the 1.5% recorded in January 2009.

Use of Internet Explorer continues to decline

According to Net Applications’ browser usage share statistics for October 2009, the number of people using Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) continues to fall.

Net Applications reports that worldwide, IE remained the number one browser in terms of usage in October at 64.6% but that was down significantly from 73.6% in October 2008.
