New app lets Rogers customers watch Live TV on their iPad while at home

Rogers Communications has released a new iPad application in Beta which enables its digital cable and high speed internet customers to stream live TV their iPads.

The Rogers Live TV app can be used by Rogers High Speed Internet and Digital Cable customers in Ontario with a My Rogers account and a 8300HD, 4250, 4642 or 8642 digital cable set top box.

Microsoft calls Xbox 360 update the “Future of TV”

Microsoft this week will roll out a firmware update for the Xbox 360 Video game console which the company is calling the “Future of TV.”

According to the software giant, the updated firmware will usher in a “new era in entertainment” giving Xbox owners “A single box that ties together all the content you want, made easily accessible through a universal, natural, voice-directed search.”

Rogers Cable begins trial of Digital Starter Pack in London

Rogers Cable has announced it will begin trials of a new TV package in London, Ontario next week called the Digital Starter Pack.

Available beginning November 8th and running until the end of March 2012, the Digital Starter Pack will include what Rogers calls “86 core TV channels” for $20.29 per month. Rogers says the price includes all monthly fees.

Rogers Cable turns off HDNet

Out with the old and in with the new appears to be the motto at Rogers Cable today as the company dropped the popular HDNet channel from its digital cable line-up and added the new Rogers owned FX Canada.

Rogers did not provide its customers with any rationale for why it was dropping the U.S. general interest television channel from its HD Specialty and HD Nature Themes pack.

Sun News Network added to Rogers and Cogeco Digital cable line-ups

The Sun News Network will become part of the Cogeco and Rogers digital cable line-up in Ontario beginning November 1st.

Sun News Network will be available to Cogeco digital cable customers in standard definition on channels 195 and in high definition on channel 705. Rogers customers in Ontario will find Sun News on channel 142 (SD) and channel 567 (HD).

FX Canada launches tonight on Rogers and Eastlink Cable

FX Canada, a Canadianized version of Fox Entertainment’s FX Channel, will launch tonight at 9 p.m. with a Halloween viewing of American Horror Story, a “psycho-sexual thriller” from the producers of Nip/Tuck and Glee, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk.
