World Fishing Network HD launches on Rogers

World Fishing Network HD, a 24/7 digital high definition specialty channel dedicated to, you guessed it, the world of fishing, will launch on Rogers cable on September 2nd.

WFN, MusiquePlus HD and MusiMax HD added to Videotron line-up

Videotron, Quebec’s largest cable company, today the WFN: World Fishing Network, MusiquePlus HD and MusiMax HD to its channel lineup starting today.

WFN is available on channel 57 with a free preview until November 30th. Beginning December 1st, it will be offered as part of the Custom, Mega and Sport packages, or à la carte.

MTS TV adds seven multicultural channels to lineup

MTS TV, Canada’s largest Internet Protocol television (IPTV) service provider, has announced the addition of seven new multicultural channels to its lineup.

New channels are available to both Classic TV and Ultimate TV subscribers and include Sony Entertainment Television Asia, TV Polonia, TLN en Espanol, RTR Planeta, ProSiebenSat. 1 Welt, Talentvision and Rai Italia.

TVO HD and TVO on demand coming to Rogers Cable

Rogers has added the high definition version of TV Ontario (TVO) to its digital basic package in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

In the coming weeks, TVOHD channel 580 will also be added to the basic digital cable package in the rest of Ontario.

CRTC approves applications for four new HDTV channels

In four separate broadcasting decisions handed down last Friday by the CRTC, the federal regulator approved four applications for new national, English-language Category 2 specialty high definition television channels in Canada.

The new HD channels include “Velocity,” “Adventure,” “KISS,” and “The Love Channel”.

CRTC approves new romance and adventure channels

In two separate broadcasting decisions handed down this week by the CRTC, the federal regulator approved two applications by Astral Media for new national, English-language Category 2 specialty television channels in Canada.

The new channels are Superstar, which will air romance programming and TV-Time, which will air action and adventure programming.

Rogers adds History TV HD and MovieTime to its lineup

Canwest Broadcasting announced today that History Television HD and MovieTime in standard definition are now available on Rogers Digital Cable.

MovieTime SD is available on channel 86 while History Television HD airs on channel 561.

Sundance Channel coming to Canada next March

Corus Entertainment and Rainbow Media today announced that they have finalized an that will enable Corus to add Sundance Channel to its portfolio of Canadian specialty services next March.

Under the creative direction of Robert Redford, Sundance Channel features a broad range of programming, from niche, genre-focused cinema to socially provocative films, documentaries and original series.
