Global demand for mobile TV increases

Consumers desire for “anytime, anywhere” entertainment is radically changing the traditional TV viewing experience outside of Canada, according to a global study released today by Motorola Mobility.

One notable finding in the global study of video consumption habits among 9,000 consumers in 16 markets was the rapid increase in mobile TV viewing in the past year.

Bell Mobile TV offers CTV and CTV2 for $1 an hour

Bell Media announced this week that it will offer live streaming of CTV and CTV Two to Bell Mobility Mobile TV subscribers.

U.S. mobile video viewership up 40%

The number of U.S. mobile subscribers watching video on their mobile devices rose more than 40 percent year-over-year in both the third and fourth quarters of 2010 according to a new report from The Nielsen Company.

The researchers found that nearly 25 million Americans watched an average of four hours and 20 minutes of mobile video per month in both the third and fourth quarter of 2010

New Channels added to Bell’s Mobile TV service

Just days after taking over CTVGlobemedia, Bell Mobility has announced that it is adding various former CTVGlobemedia stations to its Mobile TV service.

Vancouver Whitecaps games now available on Bell Mobility

Bell Mobility said today that it will offer all of this seasons Vancouver Whitecaps FC matches as part to of its Mobile TV sports package.

Fans can watch the games by purchasing Bell’s Mobile TV sports package. The package is $5 per month which includes ten hours of viewing. Additional usage is billed at a rate of $1 per hour.

Americans watching more mobile video

In the second quarter of 2010, more Americans watched video on their mobile devices than ever before according to a recent report from Nielsen.

The research firm found that while the number of people watching videos on their mobile phones remains relatively small compared to TV, the numbers are increasing.

CFL games now showing on Bell Mobility smartphones

Bell today announced an agreement to deliver live coverage of Canadian Football League (CFL) game broadcasts to Bell Mobility smartphones and mobile TV enabled phones.

The service is available across Canada today and includes all 2010 regular season and playoff games produced by TSN and RDS.

Vizio enters Mobile TV Market with Razor series

Vizio has announced that it will be one of the first manufacturers to enter the new mobile television market by offer three portable LED models including two capable of receiving broadcasts using the new ATSC-M/H mobile/handheld platform that can be operate in moving vehicles.

The Vizio Razor series includes the 7-inch VMB070, 9-inch VMB090 and the VMB100 with 10″ display.
