Global TV shows now on Eastlink Cable’s VOD service
Halifax based EastLink Cable this week announced the addition of Global Television Network programming to its Video on demand (VOD) offerings.
Some of the popular shows available on demand include: Survivor, Glee, Bones, Days of our Lives, The Young and the Restless, ET Canada, NCIS, Family Guy, The Good Wife, and Hawaii 5.0.
2010 Global TV sales predictions revised upward
Global television sales are forecast to increase from sales of 211 million units in 2009 to sales of 242 million units in 2010, an increase of 15%, according to a recent report from DisplaySearch.
The latest DisplaySearch estimate for 2010 sales is up substantially from its March estimate of 228 million units and its January estimate of 218 million.
Tops TV shows in Canada are all American
The 2009 / 2010 television season in Canada is now complete and BBM Nielsen Media Research reports that the top ten most watched primetime shows in Canada were produced in the United States and rebroadcast in Canada.
With the exception of Hockey Night in Canada, which ranked 19th overall, none of the top twenty most watched shows in Canada were Canadian made.
Reality Channel launches on Rogers in July
Canwest Broadcasting announced this week it would be launching the Global Reality Channel on Rogers Cable on July 1st.
No it’s not a channel about the trials and tribulations of the Asper family but it is a station that will air nothing but reality programming from past and present seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
Computer sales up 27% in first quarter
Worldwide personal computer shipments totaled 84.3 million units in the first quarter of 2010, a 27.4 percent increase from the first quarter of 2009, according to a preliminary report by Gartner, Inc.
The numbers exceeded Gartner’s earlier market outlook which had predicted growth of 22 percent.
Record crowds tune into Masters on TSN and Global
The return of Tigers Woods to Augusta led to record audiences for TSN in rounds one and two of the Masters Golf tournament and record audiences for the Global Network in the final two rounds on Saturday and Sunday. Global computer sales expected to rise 20% in 2010
The number of personal computers sold worldwide in 2101 is expected to increase 19.7 percent in 2010 to 366.1 million, from 305.8 million units shipped in 2009, according to a revised forecast from Gartner.
