Sales of Blu-ray players expected to top 62 million in 2011
Worldwide Blu-ray player shipments are expected to more than double between 2009 and the end of 2010 according to an ABI Research forecast released today.
The firm predicts strong growth again next year with total shipments in 2011 expected to top 62.5 million.
Global Notebook PC revenues up sharply
Revenues for the global notebook PC market grew to $31.3 billion U.S. in the first quarter, up 31% from $26.4 million in the first quarter of 2009 according to a recent report from DisplaySearch.
In terms of revenue, it was the biggest quarter for notebook sales since the third quarter of 2008
Global TV sales top 54 million in Q1
Global television sales rebounded sharply in the first quarter of 2010 thanks to improving global economic conditions according to a recent report from DisplaySearch.
Total television shipments in the first three months of this year were 54.7 million units, up 25% from the same time period in 2009.
Mobile phones sales up 17% in first quarter
Worldwide mobile phone sales rose 17 percent to 314.7 million units in the first quarter of 2010, when compared to the same period in 2009, according to a report out today from Gartner.
The strong growth in overall mobile phone sales was largely attributable to the double-digit growth of smartphone sales in mature markets.
3DTV sales expected to reach 2.5 million units in 2010
Worldwide sales of 3D capable televisions is expected to reach 2.5 million in 2010 and 27 million in 2013 according to a recent report from DisplaySearch.
While the number of 3D televisions expected to be sold is significant, it still represents just 1.1% of the estimated 228 million televisions that the research firm expects will be sold.

Global television sales are forecast to increase from sales of 211 million units in 2009 to sales of 228 million units in 2010 according to a recent report from DisplaySearch.
The research firm points to the rapid transition to flat panel technologies in emerging markets and the robust level of growth even in mature markets for the big expected increase in sales.
1.2 Billion Mobile phones sold worldwide in 2009
Worldwide mobile phone sales declined 0.9% in 2009 to 1.21 billion units according to a recent report from Gartner.
Despite the annual decline there was some good news as mobile phone sales increased 8.3% to 340 million units in the final quarter of year.
Strong Global computer sales reported in the fourth quarter
Worldwide PC shipments surpassed 90 million units in the fourth quarter of 2009, a 22.1% increase over the period in 2008, according to Gartner, Inc.
The research firm says it was the strongest year over year growth rate the worldwide PC market has experienced in the last seven years.
