1.2 Billion Mobile phones sold worldwide in 2009
Worldwide mobile phone sales declined 0.9% in 2009 to 1.21 billion units according to a recent report from Gartner.
Despite the annual decline there was some good news as mobile phone sales increased 8.3% to 340 million units in the final quarter of year.
Strong Global computer sales reported in the fourth quarter
Worldwide PC shipments surpassed 90 million units in the fourth quarter of 2009, a 22.1% increase over the period in 2008, according to Gartner, Inc.
The research firm says it was the strongest year over year growth rate the worldwide PC market has experienced in the last seven years.
Global TV sales expected to reach 218 million in 2010
Total worldwide television shipments will increase six percent from 205 million units in 2009 to 218 million units in 2010 according to a recent report from Displaysearch.
The research firm expects strong demand from China for flat panel TVs and the shift to digital television in Europe to help bolster demand.
1.2 Billion Mobile devices expected to be sold in 2009
Worldwide sales of mobile devices to consumers are expected to reach 1.214 billion units in 2009, a small 0.67 per cent decline from 2008, according to a recent report from Gartner.
Smartphone volumes will represent 14 per cent of total mobile devices sales in 2009, growing by 23.6 per cent from 2008.
Global PC sales expected to reach 299 million units in 2009
Gartner is predicting the number of personal computers sold throughout the world will reach 298.9 million units in 2009, up 2.8% from 2008.
This forecast is more optimistic than the research firm’s final September forecast, which anticipated a 2 percent decline in shipments for 2009.
Global TV sales rise 1% in third quarter
Global television sales rose 1% in the third quarter of 2009, from the same quarter a year earlier, to 54.9 million units according to the latest figures from DisplaySearch.
Third quarter LCD TV shipments worldwide increased 38% from a year earlier, while sales of plasma, OLED, CRT an RPTV televisions all declined.
Global mobile phone sales up 13% in Q3
Worldwide mobile phone sales totaled 308.9 million units in the third quarter of 2009, a slight 0.1% from the same quarter of 2008, according to a recent report from Gartner.
Smartphone sales during the quarter surpassed 41 million units, a 12.8 per cent increase from the same period last year.
287 million mobile phones sold in third quarter
Worldwide mobile phone shipments totaled 287.1 million units in the third quarter of 2009 according to report today from IDC.
IDC`s Worldwide Mobile Phone Tracker shows that sales in the July to Septembers time frame were down 6.0% from the same period a year earlier but up 5.6% from the second quarter of this year.
