The Google Chrome web browser gained 0.6% of global market share in January from the previous month according to figures published today by NetMarketshare.
Total worldwide usage for Chrome was 5.2% in January, more than triple the 1.5% recorded in January 2009.
Latest release of Google Chrome features bookmark sync
This week on the official Google Blog, the company announced a new stable release of it’s Chrome web browser for Windows, which includes two of the browser’s most frequently, requested features: extensions and bookmark sync.
Extensions are little programs, created by developers, which add additional functionality to the Chrome browser. Currently there are over 1,500 extensions in the Chrome extensions gallery.
Use of Internet Explorer continues to decline
According to Net Applications’ browser usage share statistics for October 2009, the number of people using Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) continues to fall.
Net Applications reports that worldwide, IE remained the number one browser in terms of usage in October at 64.6% but that was down significantly from 73.6% in October 2008.
