Update: Sony recalls 1.6 million Bravia LCD televisions

Sony has recalled 1.6 million Bravia LCD televisions due to faulty transformer which may cause a fire.

The company recall came after a September incident in which a customer tv caught on fire. According to a Sony statement releasd today, an additional eleven incidents have been reported in Japan since 2008.

Sony rolls out five new LCD 3D Ready HDTVs

Sony Canada today announced the introduction of five new models of LCD high definition televisions which are also 3D ready.

The new NX810 and NX710 Sony Bravia models, which range in price from $2,300 to $4,700, feature 1920 x 1080p resolution, LED Backlighting with local dimming, and a light sensor that adjusts the backlight based on room light.

CES: Sony announces thirty-three new LCD HDTVs

Sony this week announced a new line-up of LCD HDTVs at CES which consisted of thirty-three models in screen sizes ranging from twenty-two to sixty inches in size.

Perhaps the most interesting new models are the LX900 series which include 3D functionality when paired with Sony’s 3D active shutter glasses and 3D transmitter.
