BlackBerry 7 smartphones coming to MTS starting this month
The next-generation of BlackBerry 7 smartphones including the BlackBerry Torch 9810 and BlackBerry Bold 9900 are coming to MTS, the company announced today.
The BlackBerry Torch 9810 will go on sale at the end of August followed by the BlackBerry Bold 9900 smartphone in early October.
iPhone users more satisfied with their OS than other smartphone users
A recent report from ChangeWave Research has found that 70% of Apple iPhone users are very satisfied with their smartphone’s operating system (iOS) versus 50% for Android users, 27% for Windows OS users and 26% for Blackberry users.
The research firm surveyed 4,163 smartphone owners or potential smartphone owners in the United States and Canada between June 6th and June 15th
Smartphones now outsell feature phones in U.S.
Smartphones now outsell feature phones in the U.S according to a new report from research firm Nielsen.
Nielsen’s May survey of mobile consumers found among those respondents who purchased a new handset in the past three months, 55% bought a smartphone instead of a feature phone, up from 34 percent just a year ago.
Global Smartphone sales expected to top 472 million this year
Worldwide Sales of Smartphones is expected to increase 55 percent in 2011 according to IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracking report. The firm predicts 472 million smartphones will be shipped in 2011 compared to roughly 305 million units shipped in 2010
Smartphone sales are expected to nearly double from 2011 to 982 million units by the end of 2015.
Analyst estimates 250,000 Playbooks have been sold
In a research note sent to clients, RBC Capital Markets analyst Mike Abramsky is reporting that Research in Motion (RIM) has sold 250,000 Playbooks since its launch on April 19th.
The tablet computer went on-sale April 19th at more than 20,000 retail locations in the United States and Canada, just days after the launch of the Motorola android powered Xoom tablet and three weeks after the launch of the Apple iPad 2 tablet.
Mobilicity offers BlackBerry tablet and smartphone bundle
Coinciding with this week’s launch of Research in Motion’s (RIM) new Playbook tablet computer, Mobilicity has announced a new Blackberry tablet and Smartphone bundle which can save buyers of both devices $100 in rebates.
Under the terms of the deal, new Mobilicity customers who purchase a BlackBerry PlayBook and either a BlackBerry Bold 9780 or BlackBerry Curve 3G smartphone by May 15th along with any Mobilicity voice plan and data add-on will be eligible for the rebate.
Smartphone sales expected to top 468 million in 2011
Worldwide sales of smartphones is predicted to reach 468 million units in 2011, a 57.7 percent increase from 2010, according to Gartner Inc. Sales of smartphones in 2010 were just under 297 million units.
