Apple purges over 5,000 adult themed apps from app store
Apple is reported to have removed over 5,000 adult themed applications from its iTunes app store after consumers began complaining about the apps containing sexually suggestive material.
The purge, which appears to have begun in the last several days, has led to the removal of apps which feature photos of women in bikinis and lingerie in provocative poses.
Consumers expected to spend $6.2 Billion on mobile apps in 2010
A recent report from Gartner predicts consumers will spend $6.2 billion on mobile applications in 2010, up from $4.2 billion in 2009.
Gartner also estimates that consumers will download over 4.5 billion apps this year, four out of five of which will be free, up from 2.5 billion in 2009.
