iPad coming to Canada in late April

The Apple iPad will be available in the United States on April 3rd for Wi-Fi models and in late April for Wi-Fi + 3G models, according to a written statement from Apple today.

The company also said that both WiFi and 3G would be available in Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK in late April.

Apple suing HTC for patent infringement

Apple today announced that it has filed a lawsuit against HTC for infringing on 20 Apple patents involving the iPhone’s user interface, underlying architecture and hardware.

The lawsuit was filed concurrently with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and in U.S. District Court in Delaware.

Apple’s recently announced iPad computer is expected to cost just under $230 U.S. to manufacture and build according to a preliminary estimate by market research firm ISuppli Corp.

Apple updates Aperture photo editing software

Apple has announced Aperture 3, the next major release of its photo editing and management software for Macs.

Version 3 has over 200 new features including improved face detection and recognition technology, improved tools for photo retouching, ready to use image adjustments that emulate various photo processing styles, a full screen browser for navigating your image library and GPS support and built-in geotagging.

After several weeks of speculation, Apple today announced a new portable device called the iPad.

The new device features a 9.7 inch screen, is just half an inch thick, weighs one and a half pounds and can run all 140,000 iPhone apps from the app store.

HD Movies now available from iTunes Canada

Apple this week began offering Canadian iTunes customer’s high definition movies for rent or purchase. Previously, Apple had only offered HD movies in Canada through Apple TV.

New release HD movies at the iTunes Canada Movie store will cost $24.99 to purchase and $5.99 to rent.

Apple app store now offers 100,000 programs

Sixteen months ago, while the consumer electronics industry was abuzz with the release of the 3G iPhone, Apple also introduced new iTunes featuring something called the App store.

At the time, Apple noted that users could purchase and download over 500 third-party applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Today the company has announced that users can now purchase and download over 100,000 apps for their iPhone and iPod Touch.
