Default Anyone using LightsOut for Windows Home Server?

Wonder if anyone here is using the LightsOut add-in for WHS

After reading some good reviews on We Got Served, I downloaded and installed. I have added the LightsOut Client to my computer and am going to review the manual tonight.

Hope to start using it tomorrow.

Any advice from users?

The reason I tried it is that I read the new Acer Aspire Windows Home Server is using this add-on which gave me the confidence to try it. A positive review on We Got Served also aided my decision.

I have been using it for two days now and it appears to work. I started off strictly with calendar setting. I have the server shut down from 10pm to 6am (backups start at 6am) and it has worked as expected.

The toughest part was figuring out how to shut down the SBCore service.

Over coming days, I will tweak the settings to be a little more flexible and to be a bit more aggressive in power savings.

So far, I am very pleased because I hate running computers 24/7 at home (or anymore than I have too!)

I have removed the Lights Out application (version 0.7.7)

For some reason, it screwed up my ability to put my client computers in sleep mode. I thought the problem was related to another piece of software until I saw others with the same issue on the developers forum.

I'm very disappointed as I really liked the idea of shutting down the server 12 hours a day.
