I would think that in your location you will need 2 x Dish's, pointed at each of the Bell orbital slots, 91 & 82.

You will then need to run a line from each LNBF into an SW21, from there the line goes to your receiver.

58% is too low, maybe a bigger Dish will be the answer.

Why the need for a second dish? I did not need one in NB and when I look up my angles for both the NWT and NB there appears to be about a 10 degree difference between the 91 and the 82 at both locations.

Signal strength - do you suppose that the few trees that seem to be in my line would be the problem?

Dish size - I believe that they have sent me the largest dish - not certain though. It is indeed larger than my old one.

Very much entertaining the thought of getting StarChoice - it was already on the house and seems as though it is the dish of choice in town. Arrrgh.

Now that Nimiq4 feeds 82W is has been reported to come in fine on a 18" dish in Alaska. So I don't think dish size is the issue. I'm not sure about 91W though.

One thing for sure, you will NOT get BOTH birds with 1 LNBF, you need 2 of them and an SW21.

For aiming etc, have a read through the Installation threads, they outline the best way to proceed.

Default confused...

I have a 20" dish with dual lnb with 4 wires running to a sw44 switch which then has two wires running to the house. One of those wires runs straight to my 9241 receiver and the other one goes to a plug in unit to power the switch and then to the receiver. Everything was working perfectly until the other day when I had to move my home theater setup to allow for my new 50" plasma wall mount. As I was moving it, I accidentally pulled the wire from input 2 out of the plug end. I repaired the end with a new one and finished setting up thinking all was well. Next day it missed taping an episode to the pvr so I investigated it to find out that input 2 was no longer receiving a signal, but input 1 was getting a great signal(80-100%). Further investigation revealed that on input 2, I was only getting odd transponders for sat 91 and transponder 1 and 15 for sat 87 were getting a "wrong sat- nimiq 91" signal. Thinking my wiring fix must have not been good enough, I tried switching the wires from input 1 to input 2 and nothing changed. Input 2 was still not working properly. I climbed up to my dish to check the connections and everything was nice and tight. I checked my power for the switch and it was fine. Where do I go from here?

I did run a check switch, but was informed that I was missing more satellites then I previously had. Just before the check switch option, you can see your signal strength and which transponders give you what. That is where I was able to find out that all signal going into input 2 was not there, regardless or whether I switched wires from one input to another.

Try running a check switch with no input cables on the receiver. The run it again.

If it all warked before and not after you pulled a connector off, then that would indicate that you need to check those connectors yet again, for something like a single strand of braid touching the centre core.

Also ensure the Power Insertors power input is in correctly, it is a really bad design and must be turned to lock it in place.

Hey everyone, I moved to a new house and set up my BTV. Now I unhooked the old sw44 they had and hooked up what I had myself. I have 1 cable coming from each LNB and both on their own have great signal to the receiver and show both odd and even numbers on each satellite. Now I plug those 2 wires into my switch (Bell 63879 multi switch) then to my receiver. I only get the odd for one satellite and the evens for one satellite. I ran check switch on each wire direct to the LNB and both were fine. If I plug each in, then I am getting great signal but not any channels are open yet. I would think it would just take a lil bit to load. I obviously want to use my switch and have both SD and HD going. My receiver is 6100. I had the same issue when I installed it way back but I can't remember what the problem was and how I fixed it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If the SW 44 was working, you should have left it there and used it. Just run a cable from one of it's outs to your 6100 and you should be in business. It will also work for 3 more tuners, so it's a good idea to keep it if you ever want to expand your hardware.

From what I could find the BEll 63879 is the wrong switch for your needs. A SW 21 switch will also combine the two satellite signals but it's only good for one tuner.

Death Adder, it sounds to me like you have used an SW21 before a 2 x 4 Mutiswitch which will never work.

You need to ignore the 2 x 4 switch and just run directly from the SW21's to the receivers, if you have more than 2, put back the SW44.

The SW44 that came with the house didnt have an AC adapter otherwise I would have used it. I use this set up before and it is what Bell sold me way back to put the 2 satellites into one feed since the 6100 only has one input. I will try and find an SW21 and see if that works. So if I run the 91 line right to the receiver, I should be seeing the 91 channels right? Assuming everything is working alright. Thanks.

It might be cheaper or at least the same price to get a Power Supply.

To feed a 6100 with 91 & 82 you need an SW21, at the very least, or the SW44 if you have more than 2 Tuners.

Having had the same problem,i came across this suggestion and it fixed my problem.Maybe it can help out someone else.

1. Disconnect the sat cable form the unit.
2. Run "check switch"
3. Reconnect the cable
4. Power off/on
5. Do NOT run checkswitch again.

I would like to know, however, why this would fix the problem and/or what this sequence addresses?
