At the recommendation of someone in this thread I recently picked up "Metallica - Francais pour une Nuit". It was a little hard to find but found a reputable seller on eBay who seems to have a stock of these that are selling for a reasonable price (in the $40 to $50 range). Wasn't sure if I was purchasing a knockoff but when the item arrived it was sealed with a blue bluray case, full inserts, with full printing and artwork on the disc. Looks legit to me.
Anyhow, I really enjoyed this concert and is a much better viewing experience than the "Big 4" show available on Bluray shot in Sophia. The show was shot at the Roman Coleseum in Nimes, France and is very intimate. It's almost as though the crowd is right up over top of and surrounding the band. The setlist is filling (18 tracks) and they play all the big hits though the years. I really enjoyed their "Death Magnetic" album so having a good quality concert from this era is great - they play a few songs from this release. Once I get tired of watching this one I may pick up their Tres Noches, Mexico bluray next. |

Those two Metallica ones are pretty good. The France one is definitely better. I did find it wierd they only released them in the countries where they were filmed. They're both pretty good discs, why not release them everywhere? Either way though its more bluray's than most bands put out.
I just pre-ordered the Stone Temple Pilots bluray from amazon for 13.99. I hope it doesn't suck (it probably will). |

Metallica has lost me in recent years but this disc really does showcase them at their best. Sound and picture are incredible. I also saw the "Tres Noches" and "Big 4" but the French show is my "go-to" disc. |

This will be released August 27 but only available on the Amazon UK site. The concert videos of Supertramp have been very rare to date so to finally to get one in Bluray is welcome news. Available for pre-order now and pricing ($19.85 Can) including shipping is excellent !
Can't wait for my copy ! Product Description Supertramp s Breakfast In America was the biggest selling album in the world in 1979. It spawned several hit singles and went on to win two Grammy Awards and sell in excess of 20 million copies. Following the album s release Supertramp embarked on a 10 month world tour which arrived in Paris at the end of November. This show from the Pavillon de Paris was both filmed and recorded. The audio went on to form the basis of the 1980 live album Paris but the film was never released. Now for the first time, transferred and restored to full HD from the original 16mm film, this footage is available to Supertramp s legion of fans worldwide. The sound has been remixed by Peter Henderson and Supertramp s original sound engineer Russel Pope from the original multi-tracks and is presented in both stereo and 5.1 surround sound. This is a legendary show by a legendary band performing at their absolute peak and is a must for any Supertramp fan. TRACKLIST 1) French Touch (intro) 2) School 3) Bloody Well Right 4) The Logical Song 5) Goodbye Stranger 6) Breakfast In America 7) Hide In Your Shell 8) Asylum 9) Even In The Quietest Moments 10) Give A Little Bit 11) Dreamer 12) Rudy 13) Take The Long Way Home 14) Another Man s Woman 15) Child Of Vision 16) Fool s Overture 17) Two Of Us 18) Crime Of The Century 19) From Now On (credits)

A thanks also from me for the heads up on Supertramp, I will be greatly looking forward to it.
I only got to see them once for part of a concert in the Edmonton Coliseum around that era. Roger Hodgson stopped everything part way through by saying he was sick and since they were not up to their usual standard they would be offering refunds or the use of your same ticket at a future show. As far as I could tell they had been kicking pretty well every other band who had ever set foot in that building to that point in the concert for sound quality. |

Me too! Great heads up!
I saw the 1979 concert at McMahon Stadium in Calgary. One of the best concerts I've ever seen. |

My pleasure to pass on the good news re the Supertramp: Live in Paris Bluray.
Got my shipping confirmation this morning so hopefully will receive it by early next week. For those interested you may want to also check out Roger Hodgson: Take the Long Way Home - Live in Montreal on DVD. An excellent concert with above average PQ and AQ. Played all the old hits. Just Roger on 12 string and keyboards and one guy on sax. Available for under $15. Also talk of it being released as Bluray at some point. http://www.breakfastinspain.com/news...nt-new-blu-ray

Thanks for the heads up on teh Supertramp BD. The Breakfast tour was the first concert I ever saw (was 12 years old).
Supertramp fans might want to know that the classic Gabriel DVD, Secret World, is now out on Blue Ray. (I know that Gabriel has nothing to do with Supertramp, but they normally share a lot of the same fans) |
