I believe the DiVx capability is only on the European models. I don't know if you can load the UK firmware to your player, but it would definitely be nice. As it is, I will be returning my 1500 and buying the 2550 tomorrow.

Hi...

I did the software update a few days ago, and there is one that is dated November 26, 2008 that is a bit newer than what is being talked about here.

http://www.samsung.com/ca/support/do...Type=D&vType=R

I did notice one problem post update, which I am not sure I had before.

When I listen to a Compact Disc I am getting a lot of noise in the playback, I don't recall hearing this before. I experimented with the various audio playback options in the player and also on my Yamaha receiver but I can't seem to find one that provides acceptable playback.

Is anyone else having CD audio playback issues with this player?

By the way the software update cured some playback problems I was having with several DVD where the menus would not fully load.

Smile Recent firmware update

Purchased BDP1500 on Friday, uploaded the firmware update from the website to a USB flashdrive. Update took a matter of a few minutes.

Player works great, surround sound is much better than the HD-DVD player it replaced.

Default BD-P1500 Update Successful, But...

Updated firmware successfully via USB, but as Tom.F.1 noted (Post 14), all settings in System Setup menus (Clock, Audio, Video, etc) reverted to defaults. Took about 15 minutes total to update, including reviewing/revising Setup menus...

Default Auto update- What does the new update do?

i had updated to profile 2 before Xmas. I turned on my player and it detected an available update. I went ahead and started the update over the internet.

Any idea what the new update does? (besides resetting defaults?)

The only difference that I've notice so far, after 1 movie, is the time line at the bottom of the screen when you pause is a different colour. Maybe it was already there and I didn't notice.

Default DivX only on european models?

Can someone confirm that DivX is supported only on European models?
I just purchased one, here in Canada, and I can not play my divx yet, even with firmware 2.3.

I've read that firmware was released to the UK market to support playing of .AVI files (DivX). I don't know about Europe.

Since Samsung has UK firmware able to play .avi, we should "encourage" Samsung Canada/US to include this capability in a future release to our markets. I'm planning to post such a request in the Samsung forums, and perhaps contacting Samsung Canada would be a good thing. I hope you'll do the same.

UK firmware would output to PAL, not NTSC.

I suggest that you request Samsung to add .AVI files (DivX) capability to the North American firmware. That's what I've done. If they get enough requests, it may happen.

According to this site : (http://www.avcesar.com/platine/id-28...00/page-1.html), the player can switch from PAL to NTSC without any problem.
OK, it's written in french, let me translate.
Original version : De plus, la gestion du Pal et du NTSC est parfaite. La sortie bascule automatiquement dans la bonne fréquence de rafraîchissement...
Translation : Moreover, Pal and NTSC management is perfect. The player can switch automatically into the correct refresh frequency.
What do you think?
