I have also been very happy with my Tivo. I will be getting a lifetime sub in December when my first year of monthly payments is up.

Having an antenna and a Tivo there is always something to watch.

I was able to change from monthly billing to lifetime after a couple of months of test driving my first Premiere. I believe that there used to be a one year waiting period, but this may not be in effect any more (based on my experience, after purchasing the Premiere on a $99 promo). If the only reason for delaying your switch to Lifetime is to wait out the first year of monthly billings, then you may want to try calling to see if you can order Lifetime service right away, and save some money.

Walter,

I have already set it up on Tivo's website, that when the sub is over I pay for the life time automatically.

I got lucky that I was able to buy the Tivo from Amazon.ca for $77 and I also got a coupon code from Antenna's direct which brought the monthly payments to $10.

Is anyone going to be picking up the Tivo Stream Transcoder? I think I'm going to be picking one up.

I am. Not interrested to watch tv on my ipad while i am at home, more to replace tivo desktop. I want it easy to tranfer the shows on the ipad.

It is more expensive than what i would like to pay but still acceptable.

Don' expect to pick it up before going south in November.

Yeah it would have been better if it was a streaming device that would allow you to stream your shows to a 3rd TV without having to buy a completely new TiVo Premiere. That's what I thought they were building.

I probably would use it a tiny bit on my iPad, but right now I rarely watch TV shows on my iPad. It's small and kind of uncomfortable. It's more relaxing to watch it on the TV in my bedroom or living room.

They are, or were last I know, making two boxes - the streamer to stream from Series 4 box to a TV, and the transcoder to convert to iPad or other formats on the fly.

That's good to know. I would be interested in that.

Yes, there are 2 boxes that have been announced;

The 'Tivo stream': hard wired on your network, can connect to multiple Tivo premiere series (premiere, premiere Elite or xl4), and steam 'live' or recorded to Ipad (android coming soon) connected to your private network. It can also download non- protected recording to take on the road. Available on Sept 6 for $129

The IP-STB(called the 'Mini'): is a DVR-Less extender and only connect to the Premiere Elite/XL4 ( 4 tuners, cablecard only) that uses an internal cablecard. It is kind of the portal of the gateway system that Shaw uses. Availability and pricing not annonced yet.

Oh well in that case it's no good for us antenna only TiVo users. I guess it means eventually buying another TiVo if I want to hook my 3rd tv up.

Default Apple TV and TiVo Stream

From what I've read, it seems the TiVo Stream will work through an iPad app...but I wonder if it will be possible to stream to an Apple TV. That would be useful, and allow for the content on one TiVo to be shared throughout a home.

The Tivo Streamer would be great for us... We only have 1 TV, so the ipad becomes a second TV. My wife is really interested in it.

Here is the Youtube Video about the Tivo Streamer...

Not directly. You should be able to send it to the ATV using airplay and mirroring from an ipad/iphone.

Got a channel lineup update today (14201 - Niagara Falls zip) that moved CJMT from 69.1 to 40.1 - which was expected - tuned to it and it's blank however. I think the update guys have missed something!

Yup Scruffy. They changed the display channel, but not the physical channel (still shows as 51). Not even sure the display channel will be 40-1 or 69-1. We'll find out very soon.
