That looks like a Fox issue, not an SDV issue...

I agree, except that when I first switched to the Fox channel, I got OMNI instead.

I saw the same thing, luckily I went to watch on "tape" delay at 8:20, so I was able to setup on the west coast to tape. I saw the fox networks banner, so I blamed them not rogers.

Word is OTA had the same issue, so it was either a WUTV issue or a Fox master control issue.

No need to explain. Heck I'd live with my inlaws if it meant I could live on Main Street Unionville .

Angry

On the weekend I couldn't watch quite a few of the HD channels (PBS, OMNI, SUN, WGN, RaptorsHD, TMN, and others). They never come up it just says "This channel is not available at the moment.. blah blah". It was like this the whole weekend on both of my 8300HDs and it's starting to get annoying.

Is this an SDV issue or something else? I've seen the "SDV tunning" message before so I know that it's been enabled.

sharpnfuzzy, where in Ottawa are you located? If you read earlier in the thread those of us in the Greater Toronto Area were having the same issue with the same channels a few weeks back when SDV was first rolled out in our area. It took a bunch of times notifying Rogers that there was an SDV issue until it got resolved as it hasn't happened at all this week.

My suggestion is to call Rogers and let them know about the issue every 4-5 hours - specifically stating it is an SDV problem and making sure that it gets passed on to the Tech department. While you are on the phone, dont forget to ask for a credit for the loss of service that you have experienced. Also, if they suggest that they need to send out a tech to your house, odds are you aren't going to need it...

I'm in downtown.

I was hoping that it would just blow over but I guess I have to call. I hate calling in so much because nothing is ever settled with just one call... it just usually leads to more problems.

Just tell them its an SDV issue. Hopefully others in the area have already reported it and its on their intenral message board as an issue.

I had similar problems over the weekend here in Carleton Place (West of Ottawa). Probably SDV issues which finally blew over Sunday evening.

I was having problems with one particular SDV channel (Mega, channel 575)...for kicks, I changed my 2-way cable splitter that I have (one goes to the TV, the other is for high speed internet) and then the channel worked just fine immedietly afterwards.

It could've been a coincidence but you never know sometimes...

Could that have caused a soft reset?

Default Treasure HD (548) Seems To Be Affected...

As of the last couple of days, I've begun to experience the "channel is not currently available, please try again later" error message at random times on Treasure HD (548). If I let it sit on the channel, it displays a grey screen that says "press any key to watch TV" and doing so results in the "tuning SDV" message which ends either with the channel coming or reverting back to the original "channel not available" message. I've also noticed that even if the channel is already tuned in, it may suddenly freeze and display the "channel not available" message. The hard reboot method (unplugging the device and plugging it back in) seems to provide a temporary solution, but as you can imagine, it would be a real inconvenience to have to do this repeatedly.

I'm located in the Markham area and am using a Rogers 4250HD box that was newly purchased less than a month ago. The technical support agent I spoke to opened a ticket about this issue and said it would be looked in to, but given my past experience with tickets being unresolved (i.e. severe pixelation at random times on Raptors TV HD), I'm not holding my breath on a speedy resolution.

The SDV issues have typically been resolved quickly, however, please make sure that you don't have any equipment or splitters upstream of the STB to block the return signal. Splitters must be rated 5-1000 MHz and bidirectional minimum. Also check your signal strength and S/N Ratio.
