One thing that Bell TV recievers has is a remote control address, so in the system menu screen you can go and change the address between a number of 1 and 15. This would allow you to have 2 or 3 recievers in the same room, and have different remotes for each one and not have them interfere with each other. Is there such a thing on Rogers STBs? I am thinking of setting up a few terminals all in the same room, but am wondering if that is going to become a limitation.

There is no such option in the Rogers STBs. What you can do is cover up the IR sensor, or have one unit "on" while another is "off". If you have more than 2, it's problematical.
There is another option in that some IR extenders allow you to select their frequency, independent of the STB, but that's a different story...

So I guess an IR extender is the only way then. Are there any that you can suggest 57 that would work well with Rogers STBs?

Hello,
Great site guys. First time I've been here. I think I have the exact same question as the original poster but want to make sure. I just switched from BEV to Rogers. I have a Rogers PVR and a regular receiver. I want them both set up in the same room. They'll probably be within 10 feet of each other (big sports fan so a 2 TV system is critical!). The remote controls they gave me for each are identical. If I change the channel on one, it changes on the other too. I had the same setup with Bell and the guy doing the install for them set it up so one remote would work one receiver and another would work the other receiver. Are you saying this is not possible on Rogers? I clicked on the thread you pointed us to, but I don't understand what an IR extender is at all. So I guess two questions: 1. have I understood your post correctly - that this is just not possible with Rogers 2. if so, will an IR extender allow me to work two Rogers receivers in the same room with 2 different remotes? Thank you in advance for your help. |
