Anyone think they'll start passing that on to us anytime soon? They really need more flexible packages, a lot of us are overpaying.

I guess they pocketed so much of that money themselves, they didn't have enough left over to add TSN2 to their lineup.

Not wanting to sound like Ted's schill, but Rogers provides a decent range of products at pretty good pricing. They also appear to be pretty well run operationally.
Add the two together and you get profits. Go figure! Is their product offering perfect? Of course not, but IMHO they do a decent job. |

thank you CRTC, there is no need for competition with Rogers making all the money. If we had real competition then Rogers wont be posting such huge profits. Its legally irresponsible profit-takers that run Rogers...., they care about making a buck and doesn't care about about bleeding our wallets. and paying that people that actual do the work peanuts.
To make that much money in Canada is the same boat as their US counter part (Verizon, Time warner etc..) with only a 1/10th of the population is sickening. CRTC whats wrong with this picture ? Disgusted |

Rogers is a monopoly, eh? Bell certainly isn't a competitor, nor is Star Choice. And the CRTC forbids anyone from overbuilding Rogers territories so for sure they're a monopoly. Oh wait, the CRTC doesn't forbid that.
These posts railing against the success of a corporation are ridiculous. Is this a communist country where companies aren't allowed to make profits? As jvincent noted, Rogers does a pretty good job in offering a wide variety of products are market competitive pricing. If you don't like it, don't use what they offer. |

I think what people find offensive is the record profits while many of the main sticking points/complaints for the past 2 years aren't being addressed. As long as they keep making those profits people think they'll continue to be ignored. Lack of new channels lately (compared to competitors/other carriers) being one example.
Or maybe we're all just commies. |

Well if you want to go as far back as two years then I don't think the arguement is valid.
They've certainly added HD channels in that timeframe. Probably a bunch of other specialty SD channels as well. Remember, Rogers isn't just a "cable" company. They provide internet, wireless, movie rentals, etc. They are also planning on rolling out new technology (SDV in the cable area) which costs money and should allow them to provide more services. As always, there's nothing forcing you to buy from them. |

Please take the time to read the excellent article linked to in post one before commenting. As indicated by jvincent, Rogers is not just a cable company, and as discussed in similar threads in the past, the wireless portion of Rogers is where the most money is made. A short quote from the article:

I guess where ranting can kick in is specifically with the wireless division.
They have been fleecing customers for a long time and they do not show signs of letting up. I left Rogers Wireless because they are simply not competitive with Bell or Telus. One thing is for sure, with all of the competition that is on the way and with Bell/Telus doing the HSPA/LTE buildout over the next few years, Rogers will have to seriously consider making major changes:

Lets never forget or to at least learn the young ones here,,
That Rogers also makes a butt load of money by over-riding American commercials on the American stations with it's own commercials(mainly the specialty stations). 20 years strong. In the old days the CRTC called this censorship a way to help subsidize Canadian broadcasting(the advertisers to be more precise). But since thats illegal. The whole mess has been passed off to the Heritage Minister and the censorship is for our Canadian Heritage protection.... Whatever Heritage that may be.... All the colors of the rainbow. People want to watch the U.S. channels uncensored programing(not a Canadian station over-ride) and the U.S. commercials that come with them(SuperBowl commercials anyone?). And not Canadian commercials for the Brick and Sleep Country every ten minutes. End Rant. Lest we never forget 'The Freedom of Communication'. Oh. You never heard of it? Too bad. But he who has the billions of Canadian dollars will make sure you are never able to enforce it either. StarChoice is controlling share owned by Shaw for the past few years and is showing the slow changes to be just like Shaw or Rogers cable. There used to be things to watch 24/7. Now 3hours of the 24 is barely manageable to find something. |

Yeah, great value for money. You must have missed the part that said "The average Rogers Postpaid wireless customer now spends $78.46 a month". More money than brains, as my Dad used to say.
