I had problems with my cable last night but it was because of the storm.

HBO Canada HD started getting flaky during True Blood and froze several times. The regualr SD feed was fine which was unusual as before I got the new cable box it was really prone to problems.

I have the same issue. Flipping through channels and the sound doesn't work until I turn the box off and then back on. It's especially apparent if I'm watching a HD channel then switch to a SD channel. It quite often freezes right up and doesn't let me watch any SD channels until I unplug the power to the box and plug it back in.
The most frustrating thing is that it isn't consistent and support wont help until I can catch it and phone in as it happens. |

I was freezing up on the high sports channels last night. Frustrating because the one reason I got cable installed recently was to catch a special Notre Dame all star game that CBS College Sports was broadcasting...
Thank God it's on a few more times this week... |

I have Shaw Direct and I had the same problem during True Blood, so that must have been a Shaw issue.

Notice you can buy the 8300 currently for $299 at one place and $349 at another.
The price of a 6416 seems to be always $499. I see also that the Rogers box is being released with a 320 gb hard drive Its time Cogeco got their act together. |

A 6416 costs $500 US or more for the cable company to purchase. Would you like to get a discount up front, or pay more later? They're gonna get you one way or another.

Well I guess Cogeco should just buy them from BB, FS & The Source who all sell them for less than $500. can. instead of Motorola. They seem to overpay for everythig they buy like buying the Portugal cable operation for $660 Million in 2007 and having to write down the value of the operation by $400 Million last qtr. When they bought it everyone told them they overpayed. I guess if your right about what they pay for the 6416 they need a lesson in economics 101.

Who do you think supplies them to the retail outlets? Cogeco. They do that because they want to get them into people's homes and they take a loss on it to do so... Mainly because they know Future Shop also has Bell and Shaw Direct boxes for the same price, so in that retail market they have to price even more aggressively.

Just sold my house, two week closing works for everyone.....except Cogeco. I have to pay for two weeks service, $75.00 for cable, phone and internet, that I will not recieve due to their thirty day diconnection policy. Does that mean the new owners cannot connect for two weeks? Or does Cogeco let them hook up and bill us both for the same time period? Does the CRTC know about this.....do they care?
P.S.-I am moving to an area not serviced by Cogeco.....my fault I guess! |

Cannot usually bill 2 customers accounts at the same address... That is unless the work order is already completed (which is doubtful)...
Just call back and ask again, I'm sure you'll find a good ear to waive those 2 weeks fees... Even though it is clearly said in the AUP that you need to call 30 days prior to a disconnection... Quote:

I called last week about buying a HD receiver and was told that Future Shop had a promotion for new/existing customers for $249 for the 6200...so when i called Future Shop they totally denied that , returned my call to Cogeco and spoke with another agent who told me that on there PC it was 249 (i guess they have some special link that they go to ) so i told them to contact FF on my behalf so that i may purchase one outright.....well a week goes by and i call them back up and now told "oh it says 349, we have no authorization on pricing for the 6200" Basically i was SOL...boy talk about customer loyality .....God is there any flippin decent companies that supply Cable/Sat that actually give a rats butt about customers anymore????

We currently have Cogeco, but with two receivers completly useless (pixalated video, no guide, no audio) we are switching over to Bell ExpressVu.
I did call their tech support and was told that since all my cogeco services were affected (we only have TV with them) that they would send a repair tech the following day. Well, the next day the service window comes, then goes, I called them back up and was told that the appointment was made for the day previous to a time period BEFORE I called. So then I had to make another appointment for a week later. The service was fixed for about two weeks and has started to appear again. So, we're saying good-bye! I did have their HD package, but I didn't like paying $7/month for about 7-10 HD channels. |
