Research In Motion will roll out a touch-screen model of its BlackBerry Research in Motion (RIM) said on Wednesday the BlackBerry Storm, the company's first touch screen device, will be available later this fall.
The latest Blackberry, which is expected to compete head-on with the Apple iPhone, is expected to be available in Canada sometime before the holidays from Telus and Bell Mobility. |

This is a hot phone. I sure hope Bell can launch this by xmas. From some of the spy shots so far the phone does seem a bit thick though.

Deleted some posts after member made edits to post and disrupted thread. Posts were about which carrier would be selling the Storm. Both Telus and Bell have announced they will be offering the Storm

Now that Blackberry might just get me to take the plunge, though I'd be curious to see how well a Telus-spec Blackberry Storm would interface with Ford's SYNC system (The Blackberry website actually plays up the integration, but Telus has been known to block Blackberry features)

I am somewhat surprised that BB are not offering a GSM 3G version of this phone. I suppose Bell have screamed at them to make it initially CDMA so that Bell have an Iphone alternative.
I am sure they will in the rest of the world and then I guess one would just buy an unlocked on in Europe and bring it back. |

Hugh, I read the article but it did not mention the pricing structure, unless I am missing something.

Somewhere along the way, RIM et al, seem to forget that subscribers other than business types would be interested in such phones and their features. However, their initial cost and ensuing monthly charges are extremely exorbitant compared to a land line phone. Prior to cellular phones, we enjoyed reasonable costs of phone service especially when compared to other countries, but cellular phone service has obviously presented the phone companies an opportunity to reverse that advantage. The price of progress ?
