Default Booting Vista I lose my HDMI output

I am using the Gigabyte GA ma 78GM DS2 MB. I updated BIOS, and installed SP1 service release for Vista MCE. I also loaded all the latest drivers from the Gigabyte Website. Loaded Factory software VFD for the Fusion case. My problem is! everytime I boot the HTPC I loose my HDMI output to my HT. The HDMI output tab is missing when I start the Realtek S/W. It takes a lot of dicking around to get sound, seems to always be something different! Then when I reboot, sounds gone. I have reloaded different drivers and always get same results.

Thanks

Mossey

Check the realtek site, I think there's a new driver addressing HDMI issues.

This sort of issue comes up a lot with PCs and HDMI connections. See the following post on the topic of HDMI issues:

http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=71112

Sometimes if you change the order of turning on your equipment, or turn on the TV first, ensuring it's on the HDMI input, you may be able to workaround the issue. Berty is correct that it's often a firmware (driver) issue - the handshake is not happening properly, at the right time.
