Let me be the first to share how awful that first episode was. I kept thinking it had to be a dream sequence as there is no explanation for the bad filming, completely ridiculous plot and the 11 shark jumpings in 11 minutes.
I only lasted half way through so maybe it ended up being a dream (or my nightmare) at the end. |

i agree it felt like it was made in Yorkon or.. Moose Jaw
very amateur and tried to make up for it with blinking lights and lasers. |

It jumped in guns blazing and didn't stop for the whole episode. It was no dream sequence.
I give it 6 episodes before this awful remake is cancelled.

I thought it was pretty funny how the car was on fire and the 2 lead actors absolutely HAD to take their clothes off to avoid literally dying of heat. Any excuse to show a bit of skin.

The "eye-candy" was the only thing that kept me watching the whole episode. Agree with everyone else, the acting, effects, story and especially what they did to KITT (pickup truck, ridiculous spoiler and hood scoop) made me almost stop watching.
I can't believe how far they strayed from the two-hour movie they made, which I actually thought was quite entertaining. |

What's wrong with Yorkton? :-)
I caught the pilot and cringed then, this is a show that should never have been remade. |

But this show is on NBC. They will air anything! What I want to know is, what is a "shark jump"?

Jump the Shark is a reference to a Happy Days episode in which "the Fonz" actually jumped a shark. Shark jumping moments usually foreshadow the death of a show.
http://www.jumptheshark.com/index.jspa Oh and my wife and I made it about 12 seconds in when KITT morphed into "mean car" and jumped over some goons. We both giggled and changed the channel. Not a word said. Talk about poor mans Transformers. |

As a fan of the original, I was willing to give this a shot but after watching the pilot I would have to agree with the others that it sucks. It doesn't have much in common with the original aside from the characters and KITT and I believe that is intentional on the part of the creators as they want to take this show into a different direction. I read a review in the SciFi magazine and they pretty much summed it up in the following description:
40% Knight Rider 30% Fast and the Furious 30% Transformers The executive producer is Gary Scott Thompson, creator of Las Vegas and more importantly the writer of... The Fast and the Furious!. This explains alot IMO, including the souped up KITT and probably also the decision to use a Ford Mustang Shelby. He has turned this into a Fast and the Furious version of Knight Rider and that as well as the morphing crap have turned me right off. Interesting he was not involved in the movie but was brought in now for the series. The movie was not bad and had decent ratings but with this dramatic change I wonder how many will actually tune in to this show on a regular basis?! |

Is Val Kilmer hurting that much that he had to do the voice for KITT?
They should have got Adam West

Watching the one scene where KITT was on fire, made me think how wonderful Prison Break, Fringe and Terminator are. As silly as those plots are, they take themselves seriously. I have no idea what crowd they're trying to get with Knight Rider. It's a comedy if anything. And the worse part is how bad the special effects are. For a show like this.

We didn't last the entire episode either. Nice to see lots of action, but even what the guy does on his own pushes credibility far, far to far. I will watch the first of one or two more episodes. There have been shows that were terrible until the director saw how it really looked when watching the rushes, and then changed things for the better. The shows deserves at least 10 minutes of air time - over three episodes. that is....... |
