The sequences in the dial plan may be explained like this:

*xxS0 - the star key plus any two digits. Send this call immediately without waiting for further dialing.

<411:18004664411>S0 - when 411 is dialed, actually dial 1-800-466-4411. (Google 411.) Send this call immediately without waiting for further dialing.

<911:8195957600>S0 - when 911 is dialed, actually dial what appears to be the Hull Police Department. Note that this is not true 911 dialing, as you won't be able to reach fire or ambulance. Some police departments do not even accept emergency calls on regular numbers.

[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0 - 10-digit North American dialing. Send this call immediately without waiting for further dialing.

011[2-9]x.S5 - this sequence is invalid and will be interpreted as 011[2-9]x. The S5 is ignored. This matches 011, 2-9, and then zero or more of any digit.

To add 11-digit dialing, add the following sequence: 1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxxS0

Good luck!

One more thing about using the 3CXPhone VoIP/SIP app on my mobile phone;

I forgot to mention probably the most important "feature" of all. Namely that (when wi-fi is connected) you don't need to find and start the app to make a call. Just dial a number (directly or via the Contacts list), and 3CX intercepts the call and routes it via my VoIP.ms account, this makes it seamlessly integrated

If there's no wi-fi, then there's no intercept, and calls are routed via my mobile carrier.

Some users of the Toronto and Montreal PoPs have reported audio quality issues with incoming calls on the caller's end. To test if you are affected by this issue, use a POTS phone and call your DID. Do not answer the call; instead wait for voicemail. If you hear sound quality issues, report the issue to VoIP.ms support, and use a different PoP as a temporary workaround.

You may also want to post here, so we can know how many users are affected, for curiosity's sake.

Thanks so much for the detailed explanation, that fixed it up!. Now only if we can dial 310 numbers, that would be the topping on the cake.

I've used Voip.ms for our business for over a year and have spent over $500 with them. I decided to set my grandparents up with a voip line so that they could save some money on their phone bill. I setup an account in their name, and it got flagged for manual verification. I emailed to ask them to activate the account, and they responded that they needed my grandparents ID. I sent them an email with our details on our other Voip.ms account to show them that we're a legitimate customer, and they acknowledged our other account, but wouldn't budge on skipping the photo ID step. Not impressed at all as my grandparents live 3000km away, don't have a scanner, and I wanted to keep this a surprise.

There was a big discussion about this where some customers could call 310 numbers and same can't. I cannot call these 310 numbers (I haven't tried others), 310-maxx, 310-bell, 310-surf and 310-1010. When trying to call one of these numbers, I get a message ""This number cannot be reached from your area"".

I cannot call them either. I was trying to get through to Bell last month. The only number I could find was 310-BELL. That would not work. I finally managed to find a toll free number for Bell, but spent 20 minutes searching. They really want people to use the 310 number. Not a very wise business decision considering 310 does not work by all phone companies. The guy I spoke to at Bell asked me to just put 613 (my area code) in front of it. Nope - doesn't work. I didn't think that would work.

The entire purpose of 310 numbers is that no matter where you live your call will be directed to the location near you. It's really just a speed dial number to an actual number depending on where you are located. Unless all phone companies buy in to this and use the same database there isn't much point advertising 310 numbers with no alternate backup number.

Anonymous callers.

Has anyone noticed over the past week or so that voip.ms is no longer providing the number to anonymous callers in the call log? The callers number would never show on the phone, but you could get it from the log should the call be of a criminal nature. Now it doesn't show.

310-maxx was the only one I was able to reach, by dialing 604-310-maxx.

Default voicemail shortcut

I see that someone put a feature request in for being able to access the voicemail at home without hitting the full number, just the last digit. Any shortcuts around that?

dheian, I don't quite understand what you're trying to do. Could you please explain some more about how you would like the voicemail to work?

Just testing the voicemail settings and when I dial *97 from home it asks for the mailbox number and password. I have to enter the full 6 digit mailbox number.

Just wondering if there's any way around this.

Yes, just set "Internal Extension VoiceMail" if you use a sub account or "Voicemail Associated to the Main Account" if you use the main account.
