That is the exact string im using, I'm using -7:00 since im in Edmonton and I've even manually entered the time in the ata still nothing. only thing that works is if i set my time zone to central -6:00 then im good, but it shouldnt be that way.

It's possible that your device has the wrong current date and time. Have you entered an NTP time server?

I believe it should be that way at this time of year. Although the clocks are set forward in spring GMT does not change. Therefore, your time is currently GMT - 6, in the fall it will be GMT - 7 again.

Its ok, after setting up a NTP server, the clock imediately switched to the correct time without changing time zone.
Just a tip, maybe a good time to top off voip.ms accounts, the loonie is just over 99cents on the greenback.

That is a great tip. I just added $100.
The DST on the SPA2102 will take care of the hour difference. You will not have to toggle back and forth from -6 to -7. |

The Seattle server should be good for us BCers. m.

Montreal is still the closest to me. Then Toronto, then New York.

Seattle should be good for Alberta too, a lot closer than MTL although I have no issues with voice quality using its server, but where did you find this info?

I just discovered something today. I switched Internet providers, and instead of getting the best pings from the voip.ms Montreal server, the best pings are now from the Toronto server because my new ISP has their servers in Toronto. The calls have been clear and I didn't think there were any issues until I got an email from a friend in Halifax who also uses voip.ms. She said she is unable to call me. I forgot to tell her to change my SIP URI in her phonebook. So I asked her to change it from 111111@sip.ca1.voip.ms to 111111@sip.ca2.voip.ms. After doing so she claims she still cannot call. She says after dialing *75,11 she gets another dialtone. So I tried to call her. Hey I got a dialtone too!
I switched myself back to the Montreal server and all is ok again. It appears that if you want to call another voip.ms user, that user must be registered to the same server. Neither of us could call each other when on separate servers. What's weird is that I can call a friend who uses Callcentric with no trouble. Callcentric would not have clients on the same server as voip.ms. It definitely should be working I think. Has anyone else found a way to allow calls to come through on separate servers? For now I'm back on Montreal. BTW: 111111 is not my actual user id. |

Does vopi.ms have a feature when you dial a number, it is busy, you hang up and when the line is free, it dials the same number and rings your number, alerting you the line is free?

Some companies call that feature "Ring Again or Call Again or Call Return". No, voip.ms does not offer that, but your ATA may offer it. Just enable *66 under Regional Settings where it says "Call Back Act". Your ATA will re-dial the number every few seconds under it's no longer busy, then it will ring both your phone and the person you are trying to reach.

Regarding DISA. I tried setting it up and the only way I got it to work was to change from time condition to DISA selected. So you need a dedicated number for DISA??
I thought I might be able to use incoming caller id, so that when I called I got DISA but when others called they got the number and forwarding or whatever was setup, but I could not get it to work. Any ideas? |

You don't need a dedicated line anymore. You can start with a recording. A WAV file with the options you want. For example:
Press 1 for voicemail Press 0 to ring the phone directly Press 2 for DISA Press 3 for Work Once the recording is made, upload it to voip.ms. Now go into the IVR setting, and choose the recording. Then tell the IVR that option 1 is for voicemail, option 2 for DISA, etc. Then go to Caller Id Filtering. Enter the number of your cell phone, then get it to route the cell phone call to the IVR. Now anytime you call from your cell phone, you will get your prompts, but anyone else calling you should ring straight through to your home phone. |
